updates galore.

Update #1 - I guess I forgot to post about my second job out here. I am interning over at Spectacle Entertainment (management), working primarily with DO2W... helping them with getting more press, shows, social networking, and any ideas I have to further their career. My first piece that I got them was featured on the blog, KingsofAR.com :D

Update #2 - As I mentioned before, I shot the Carney show about a week and a half ago. The other opener was The Pretty Reckless, another new Interscope band, so I took some shots of them as well. You very well may see some of my Carney shots used in some form of marketing/promo in the near future. You can see all of them on my flickr. Here are a few of my favorites:
Update #3 - This past Tuesday, I got the chance to catch out Bleu at the Hotel Cafe (He's doing a residency there in July) as well as see a very rare acoustic performance by Rooney. It was pretty crowded but I was able to get a few good pictures. For all those Rooney fans out there, new album hopefully by fall/winter and touring in November - or at least that is what they are aiming for.
Update #4 - Yesterday, I tagged along with Lindsey and documented some stuff for Interscope artist, Jibbs (album due out later this summer). I can't show you any of the photos yet from that photoshoot, but as soon as I can - I will. :)

Update #5 - I have figured out how to use Skype, so now I can see your lovely faces.

Update #6 - A list of people JUST coming to the Hotel Cafe this July => Jackie Tohn, Bleu/Drake Bell, David Ryan Harris/Ernie Halter, Chantel Kreviazuk, The Spring Standards, Madi Diaz, Matthew Perryman Jones, The Chapin Sisters. There are definitely some that I cannot miss for anything.

P.S. I want tickets to Idol on July 16 - or a photo pass. I wish that was possible. :/
P.P.S. I am also sad to see Brooke White's Hotel Cafe show not listed anymore. I was looking forward to that one the most.

Back to my roots

Tomorrow, I finally get back to what I love. Seeing live music with camera in hand.
Thanks to my lovely office this summer, I have a press pass to CARNEY tomorrow night.
Its at the Henry Fonda Theater which is a very old beautiful theater.

Wednesday, I plan on seeing Butterfly Boucher at the Hotel Cafe, my Evening Muse of the West Coast minus the VIP treatment. And Thursday, Terra Naomi is playing--- I hope I can check her out too.

In the next week, Hotel Cafe surely will see a lot of me.
Katie Herzig plays there next Monday, who I cannot miss.
and Tuesday is BLEU and ROONEY...oh my.

girl and the road. literally.

Tuesdays are one of my days off. I started out the day wanting be just me and the camera. Clouds stood in my way all day. I never was truly inspired to take the camera out. When I left the house, I wanted to go to The Getty. Well, I missed the 405 exit somehow...and landed in Hollywood. I figured that I would just start there and head to the ocean eventually and take a drive on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).

I was going to go to Amoeba Records, but turned the wrong way on Sunset. Therefore, I didn't feel like turning around. It is probably for the best since I can drop some serious dough at Amoeba. I'll go soon though. You can't keep me from used CD shopping.

Had my lunch at Carney's. Yum Yum!

After lunch, I headed to the Westwood Village to browse Buffalo Exchange.
I struck out with every dress I tried on. Ended up only getting 2 scarves. Another addiction of mine.

Then I headed west into Santa Monica to the Pacific Ocean.

Up the PCH to Malibu, where my GPS took me through the canyons to get home.
Now, everyone should drive through those canyons at some point on their trip to LA. The view is absolutely unbelievably amazing! It would have been even better if there was a little more blue sky and not overcast today. I'll probably make the drive again at some point when there's better weather for pictures.

Driving back home, I had no idea where I was and I loved every minute of it.
I trusted the GPS and it got me back just fine :)

I have no words.

I have no words that would be a suitable apology for not blogging. Instead of looking back, I will briefly share a few pictures from my drive across country, and then move on.

Visited the Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville TN

I should have known that updating from the road was a bad idea. I was always tired from driving or was busy visiting people that I didn't have time to sit down and write in this. But I assure you I actually wrote in a real journal, so I will finish posting about my days with some pictures that I took. :)

But my first day of the internship was yesterday. It was good.
Not much to say... it was a rare slow day in the office.
Wednesdays I believe are busier.

almost forgot

Cirbey had the cutest decor in her kitchen.

Let's Rewind: Day 1

May 18:

Travel Day from Charlotte, NC to Nashville, TN.
I said goodbye to the Purple Door. It will be surely missed for two months.

I made it to Nashville in pretty good time... arriving mid-afternoon.
Took in a few vintage stores, and a much needed visit to Grimey's as I waited for Cirbey to get off work.Cirbey took me to BAJA BURRITO and I approve!
Can I move to Nashville now??!

While parking at Baja, I couldn't help but notice these signs:

I can't get away from Wolf Camera apparently.
Saw a total of 4 of them in Nashville.
(2 were out of business. oh shucks.)

Quickie

I am sorry that I haven't gotten around to make my first post from the road.
A more in-depth response coming soon (and I am not using that word 'soon' in Hanson's understanding of the word). Probably tonight. Today I am hanging out with an old friend here in Dallas, and her bachelorette party is tonight (Bowling!!). Off to find some lunch.

Music of the Moment: MY FAVORITE HIGHWAY (no pun intended. that's really the band name) and the album is "How to Call a Bluff"

Thanks, AD.

Andy Davis played an oldie but a goodie for me last night- "Spontaneous" from his first album Thinks of Her. I captured it on video. I dedicate it to this trip blog.

No more tests.

Officially took the last test of college today. Feels good.
I embark in less than 2 weeks now. Am I really doing this?
Some people have called me crazy for taking this journey by myself.
Some people have told me to take it all in as I drive across this great country of ours.
Some people have supplied me with GREAT music. (Got my 2nd playlist today.)

Reservations are made.

Got my first mix from Shaun(athan). Have not listened to it yet.
I have told myself that I am going to wait.
We'll see if that holds true.

But for now, I am too busy with the end of classes to consume myself into even more "new" music. Got TINTED WINDOWS today - and can we say Uhhh-maaazzinnng! Right now, my cd player is rotating that and the first studio album of The Brilliant Inventions <-- that one is brilliant, tehehe.

Follow me.

I have never been a good blogger. But a road trip needs documentation.

Next month, I will embark on a cross country road trip to sunny California for an internship to finish out my marketing degree. I will be visiting some friends along the way, taking lots of pictures, and even attending a wedding of my best friend from middle school(!)...

Can't wait to get road mixes from friends. Each of my friends have different music tastes, so that will surely be interesting.
